Visiting Berardo Museum is Lisbon

If you are visiting Portugal, bear in mind that Monday is not a very good day for tourists,  as many museums and attractions are closed.

I have researched the web and found Museu Coleção Berardo at Centro Cultural Belém does open on Mondays so… there we went!

Centro Cultural Belem

The building where this Modern Art Museum is located is beautiful and fully integrated with the ancient buildings nearby (Jeronimos Monastery, Belem Tower, Padrão dos Descobrimentos).

The stones used are neutral and blend nicely with the historic neighborhood. CCB also won the Stone Architectural Award at the Verona Fair in 1993.

I loved Cultural Centre of Belém (Centro Cultural Belém  – CCB) Architectural project.  Besides being beautiful, this is the largest building with cultural facilities in Portugal

We had lunch at the Museum’s Cafeteria  and although the quality of the food was good, we found it pricey (as almost all Museum cafeterias around the world).  If you want to have lunch I would recommend Vela Latina Restaurant nearby as it has better food and lower prices.  😀

There is no fee to visit Museu Coleção Berardo. You only need to have  your backpack checked before going inside and that’s all.

The collection is good but if you have visited other Modern Art Museums around the world, you will not get highly impressed with this one.

After visiting Centro Cultural Belém,  we took tram 15E and got-off near Praça do Comércio.  From there we walked to Chiado to taste the famous ice cream from Santini.   It’s really delicious and if you are an ice-cream lover, don’t miss this jewel. 😀
