Two days in Seville
We slept like angels at Eurostars Regina 3 in Seville. As you probably have read on my previous post, yesterday we traveled by car from Lisbon to Seville.
Although I read on Tripadvisor that Eurostars Regina 3 can be a bit noisy we didn’t have any issues. The shower there is the best shower ever! Powerful water jet, modern, clean, excellent. If you, like us, love to take a shower with super-pressurized and abundant water, this is the place for you,
Breakfast was taken just around the corner, at a small cafe located on the road that goes along the river. It was good although they don’t serve bread and cheese! Only bread and ham with olive oil on top of it. It was very good and cheap: Less than 8 € for the two of us.
We walked by the river to the “Gold Tower” (Oro Tower).
When we got to Torre d’ Oro we went on a hop-on / hop-off bus. There are two companies at the Oro Tower offering the service (one has the red buses and the other has the green buses). After reading reviews on Tripadvisor we opted for the green bus company. Although it was a little windy, we sat at the upper deck in order to better enjoy the views and have more photo opportunities.
First, we went on the whole circuit without stopping, to have a glance of all the city. After we completed the loop, we start visiting the attractions along the route.
Circuit: The bus goes to Plaza de Espãna, City Center, Triana, Beer Factory, 1992 Exhibition Pavilion, Macarena and back to Oro Tower.
After completing the loop we got off at Plaza de Espana.
We had an amazing time at Plaza de Espana.
From Plaza de Espana we went to have lunch at a fantastic place: Cerveceria Girarda.
I discovered this restaurant after asking a guy who owns a shop for “where the locals go for great food” .
We ate many many tapas, and each one was even better than the previous one! ;D Awesome place to have a great time while visiting Seville!
Here is the review I wrote about this place on Tripadvisor. There you will find address and directions.
After lunch we went to visit Alcazar.
Alcazar can not be missed while you are visiting Seville and we were amazed by its rooms, tiles and gardens!! Wow! What a delight for our senses! Not only sight, but also hearing, smelling and touching.
Sight: Everything there is beautiful, beyond description.
Hearing: Water fountains have delicious noises
Smell: Flowers and fruits along the gardens
Touch: You can touch the tiles and feel the beautiful decor applied on them.
From Alcazar we tried to get the “hop on / hop off ” bus again but it would take one hour for its arrival (at Oro Tower). So…. we decided to go walking all the way from Oro Tower to the bridge designed by Calatrava. It is a bit of a walking but a pleasant one! 😀
The bridge is very interesting and we learned during the bus tour that Calatrava got upset with the authorities there, because his project was not completely done the way he designed it. He designed two bridges (equal and mirrored) that would give the impression of two large arcs, forming like an “entrance door” to the exhibition’s pavilions. Only one bridge was constructed and he was upset by this fact.
Anyway, the bridge is beautiful, and we enjoyed walking there to see it closer to us!
From this site we walked a Tapas Bar called Dos de Mayo. It is located close to our hotel and with excellent reviews on the internet.
After many tapas, my “sangria”, my wines and husband’s beers we walked back to our hotel (close by) where we had an excellent night of sleep! 😀
We had a great time in Seville. It is a magical place. I highly recommend you visit Seville!
Two days in Seville just ended and we are ready to go back to Portugal tomorrow morning!
